Amsoil filter not available, is K&N ok?

A few weeks ago I got all excited and bought a KN 14" by 4" air filter element and one of the "extreme" pleated tops for my airfilter on my new engine in my truck. Got both new off eBay for a good deal.
Then I found this place and am having second thoughts on the KN filters. I emailed Amsoil asking about a universal 14 by 4 filter and they don't have one. Closest is the 13 1/2 by 3, not really what I want.
Guess my questions is since the Amsoil is not available, should I sell the KN stuff and stay with the paper or use the KN and hope for the best.

I"m running a Frantz bypass and Amsoil 10w30 syn and am shooting for no more oil changes with testing. Hate to kill my chances with a crappy air filtering system. Any suggestions?

I have K&N filters on all my vehicles, and the silicon numbers are low on them........But I don't live in a dusty environment. As far as filtration, IMO the amsoil isn't any better than the K&N. If it were me (and its not), I would either do a used oil analysis to check for silicon levels......or ditch the extreme lid, and use a prefilter on the K&N filter.......or go back to paper.

I have a question or two. What does the "U" in UOA stand for? LOL I"m assuming the OA is for "oil annalasis" (sp?)

Where does the silicone come from? All this oil testing is greek to me, but I will however be doing some in the future when my oil gets older.

Well, after looking at my pretty new K&N filters that I got a month ago (still sitting in the boxes), I decided to put them back on eBay and cut my losses and go with a double stack Fram on my truck. Need to go shopping tomorrow with a tape measure, I need 2, 14" by 3" filters to stack on my new engine. Sigh :>(
