K&N extended life air filters

it’s got oil like a lot of factory new air filters have these days. AFE that made their name selling and marketing dry cleanable filters. Guess what their best 7 stage premium filter is? An oiled gauze filter like K&N. Guess what the owner of CBM (Custom Built Motors) says about cleanable dry filters? “Do not clean them. Throw them away and replace them” I run the oiled AFE on a class 10 desert car that I use in the sand dunes. Nothing gets thru it and it hold pounds of dirt and sand. They also claim to filter finer dirt after all the little oil soaked fibers have a coat of dirt stuck on them. BMP makes the factory oiled gauze filters for the Porsche GT3R. It an italian made K&N Gauze type that also fits my Porsche. Good enough for the $200k GT3R then good enough for me. That may be apples to oranges but I just don’t see the problem here if a guy wants a little better flowing oiled filter that he does not have to clean. I wash mine in clothes detergent and oil with AFE oil because it is synthetic oil and does not dry out like vegetable oil that K&N oil is made from. Sure some have way over oiled them and failed to let them dry overnight causing MAF contamination but who does that anymore? I’m just glad companies like K&N innovate and fooey on those that bag on these new products. I hope they sell a million of them.
