Fram Ultra Air Filter (sold exclusively at Walmart).

This was very helpful, as it is evidence that Fram has cheapened their Ultra air filters.
I will be looking for a replacement for Fram Air filters.

What is the general consensus opinion on Super Tech Air filters?

Also, I like Pentius oil filters. I saw their air filters for sale on Amazon. Has anyone tried a Pentius air filter and is it high quality?

Based on everything known at this point, which air filter is very well made, and has a high efficiency near 99% @ > 20 microns

I used Fram Ultra for one reason only, seams to seal the best for my Nissan Rogue Sport. I may want to rethink going 32,000 miles on it. It was pretty packed up and I knew my mileage took a noticeable hit. I hear the purolator one air filters are very good for efficiency.

It's seems most US filter manufacturers have been cheapening their filters over the last 5 years.
Profit at the expense of quality. I'm thinking OEM filters are a good choice for the next air filters I buy.

The last brand I'd be choosing is Fram, some aftermarket actually filter better than OEM. But OEM is a safe choice agreed

I'm thinking the same. Stay with OEM. In my case, I own 3 Honda Odysseys and 1 Toyota Corolla.
I have good relationships with the parts departments at both dealerships.
I developed a small friendship with the parts managers and sometimes ask for discounts if I buy in volume.

OEM air + oil filters can be a way to avoid the cheapening by the US manufactures like First Brands / Champ / Fram.

The fram I bought 2 for my 17 outback and upon close inspection it was bowed and not sealing in the middle and the second one was the same when i inspected it closely. The one I took off was bowed too. and dirt was bypassing the filter at the defect as its suppose to be perfectly flat. I had quality issues with them years ago and I was sure... or I was hopeing they changed. I think I may be looking at an early engine failure now. I guess I should be looking for a new vehicle before this happens...

Thanks for that Fram...

you're not alone.. on my old civic, the fram air filter was definitely letting in more dirt. Usually you could see the dirt accumulate on the filter's outside facing side. But over a year, nothing. Did an UOA and that oil test showed elevated levels of silcon aka dirt! I switched back to Honda's filter, the dirt began accumulating on the dirty side and the newer UOA showed the silicon levels cut by about 2/3! The fram was definitely letting dirt come right into the engine with the illusion it was an actual working filter!

I think you could do some used oil analysis and I bet you'll be ok, but ya I agree, THANKS FRAM! no wonder they're bankrupt, kind of deserve it after selling junk.

OMG. im floored! Why? What could they have gained by selling damaging product. I used to be all for aftermarket parts. I more and more am just buying OEM parts. I am sickend by the aftermarket industry as they have the power to stop the trash that ruins peoples property and harms perples lives. Thank you for your information. Peace

Just don't buy stuff from company's like Sagefi Group which are junk IMO. Buy Alco, Hengst, OEM Mann (not aftermarket Mann) and you'll be fine.

Why did you buy Fram, I've always avoided their products and anything made by K&N.

I picked up an Ultra air filter for my Pilot. I've mainly used Extra Guards on this car and have always been happy with their quality. However, this Ultra appears to be more cheaply made than the EG; less pleats, bowed out gasket, thinner plastic frame. I wasn't able to look at it in store because I didn't want to break the seal on the box. Ended up installing it but definitely won't be buying Fram engine filters anymore.

Please use OEM or a good quality aftermarket option in future, for the sake of your engine, intake sensors and catalyst.
