I had a bottle of Amsoil engine flush laying around so I decided to use it. Ran it for 12 minutes @ about 1,800-2,000 rpms. I then filled back up with Mobil 1 0w-30. Super smooth as always. No noise issues at all. Feels like all the other 20 grade oils I've used. Probably because of the low HT/HS of 2.99. I also noticed M1 0w30 has more moly than other grades of M1 @ 100ppm.

Sounds like it worked out fine.Amsoil makes some great stuff.
I also like the Mobil 1 0w30 in some engines like Toyota 4cyl.
The darn thing is as close to silent without being turned on.

I was hoping you were going to try one of the newer oils out there buster, perhaps the Toyota 0w20 or Edge 0w20.

Or Ultra 5W-20.

I have to ask, how dirty was this engine to start with? Did you use the engine flush because you needed to or because it seemed like fun? (Not that I would know about doing things like that.)

I will eventually. I had a 5qt jub of M1 from moths ago so I decided to use it. No Edge 0w20 around here yet.

Nah, I figured I'd use it up and that will be the only time. I have 126k miles now on the Honda.

Sorry Johnny but Mobil 1 doesn't even come close too Valvoline when it comes too wear protection.

And you are basing this a single test result being touted by Valvoline in their advertising campaign. Yeah.... That's an unbiased source.

Comically, it doesn't matter either way. Mobil still makes money even when you buy Valvoline. Since they supply base-stocks to Ashland.

How so? First of all, there are other wear tests other than the Seq IVA. Second, I doubt it's an issue anymore.

API tests 600 licensed oils per year to confirm that they meet our requirements. This would include a variety of ExxonMobil products. We don’t merely accept an oil marketer’s word. I can’t really explain why Ashland chose to do what it did, but ExxonMobil has taken steps to confirm its product meets our requirements.

The ball is in your court.

If Valvoline was lying dont you think Mobil would have sued the pants off Valvoline , they never did. The API doesn't test engine oils too see if they meet the specs. for wear in the seq. test. The API is very wimpy thats why ILSAC has taken the lead for higher engine oil quality. Mobil carries a big stick and the API wont mess with them.

C'mon man. Do you see engines failing anywhere around the world in the thousands of high performance cars that are using Mobil 1?

Buster : you are too brainwashed by Mobil and their slick advertising , sorry I cant help you anymore. And I never said your engine would fail if you use Mobil 1 , but I know their are much better engine oil choices then Mobil 1.

I have been running Mobil 1 0w30 green cap in my 3.8 liter Ford engine with 155.000 miles on it. I am very impresseed with the almost zero oil use in 5 K and the oil color has maintained a nice golden brown tint. Great oil and great price at WallyWorld.

You KNOW do you? You've done EXTENSIVE fleet testing and can make this statement with absolute certainty?

Or maybe you THINK there are better oils. After all, we are all entitled to our opinion. I THINK Mobil 1 is better than Valvoline for example. That is my OPINION, likely just like yours.

The issue comes when somebody starts peddling their OPINION as fact.....
