I really hope they have a big list. I'd love to get one for my G37 - can't stand K&N, but want something better than stock

Have you looked into an AFE Pro Dry filter?

i just purchased the EAA170 for my dodge caravan after spending alot of money last month on a k&n.. i regret getting it. i hope this amsoil stands far above the k&n.. what i did not like about the k&n was how much dirt it allowed to enter the engine.

i know this link was posted before and talked about

http://duramax-diesel.com/spicer/index.htm

what do you guys think of it? it shows the acdelco being superior to all other air filters?!

is there any where that i can find proof on that? .. i was bi.tched at because i was going to go with a EAA and then someone pointed me to that test (which i assumed was old too) and said dont do it, i want to prove that person(s) wrong because i told them i had a feeling that that test was not using a EAA..

-edit-
nevermind.. i just did a google search for amsoil ts-123 and indeed its a very old filter .. wet type too..

The date on the report is 2004. The part number for the Amsoil filter is TS123. I know that part # is an oiled foam filter. Amsoil hasn't sold those for 3+ years. The new filters are all EAAXXX (X=a part #) and are made from dry nanofiber technology.

This is not a bash thread. Just a info thread.

There's been some heavy discussion on one of the other forums about how the Amsoil Air Filters are not performing as advertised. This has affected those with the filter on their trucks, the independant dealers, and forum sponsors that run a business. Icebox is not selling their system with the Amsoil filters anymore. And a couple businesses are dropping the Amsoil line because of this. Amsoil is not living up to the warranty because of their fine print disclaimer according to Steve Lepage western states sales manager.

Quote:
"Amsoil realizes the intake is a modification, but beyond that a person could chip, add a turbo, exhaust system, etc, and with enough modifications, a filter would collapse. If the only modification to the vehicle is an aftermarket air intake system, then our warranty would apply. If the vehicle has other modifications to it as stated above, our warranty does not apply. If there are not other modifications to this vehicle, we can have a tech rep contact the customer to begin the warranty process."

The problems that ppl are starting to have are, the drop-ins are not sealing very well in some instances, there has been dirt inside of intake tubes after the filter, and there have been instances of the filters collapsing also.

As of now, my Eaa-189 is no longer in the truck. Over the past two weeks I have found that my filter minder was pulling down 1/2 to 2/3rds of the way. In this period I have reset the filter minder 6 times and attempted to clean the filter twice by vaccuming and blowing air from the clean side out. I installed a purolater drop in for now and the filter minder hasn't budged over the past couple of days.

Here's the kicker. I have only been running the Amsoil drop-in for 2 1/2 years and it only has around 45,000 miles on it. I am not even close to being in a dusty area out here in MD. That's barely half of its life expectancy as per Amsoil's advertising for the filter with the Nanofiber media.

Here are a couple pics of what it looks like. I did not have an issue with dirt in the intake tube like others have mentioned. My intake was clean. So the filter did it's job, it just didn't live up to its longevity hype. I think it's time to pull a Oil analysis early and check my Silicon levels.

glad i dont have a truck i guess :) go caravan go!

so you DID clean the EAA filter in the 2.5yr period? .. i'll check my next spring and see how dirty it is.. i would rather see it more dirty then clean because then i know its stopping dirt vs. the K&N filter i had which after 1 yr would have probably still been clean as new ahhaha

Appears as if there is lots of "stuff" here - but maybe on two issues? (Related??). Allow me to comment if possible. I appreciate this is not a bash "post".
First we have some other forums (have a link?) with some folks having issues with (modified?) intake systems. What vehicles? What modifications? Sure no one likes to read statements like LePage's, but NO company can assure all planar filters will stand up to all modifications. Sounds to me, since we are all speculating someone should have designed a stiffener or something.
Second we have your case. You lived in DFW? Dallas-Fort Worth (?) and then moved to MD? It does sound (and look) like your filter is loading up. Did you clean it at 25,000 miles? I'd love to see the UOA, and glad your intake looks clean.

Oops. I meant to add in more info before I submitted my post.

I haven't read of any problems on normally aspirated engines. The problems I have read about are those with the Diesels. My best guess is the demand of air that a diesel requires is not going to get the longevity that Amsoil advertises. There is a big thread on the problem over on http://www.cummisforum.com in the general section.

Yes, the Eaa189 I had in my truck woked fine. I cleaned it approx every 10,000 miles up until I took it out. I had no dust or dirt issues after the filter. Like I said previously, I only got about half of the life expectancy. I installed the Eaa189 in early summer 2006, moved to MD Oct 06, and have been here in MD since.

Well even though I started this thread I decided not to get a Amsoil filter. They have one for the Escape but if you figure in the price not really worth it. The last PureOne lasted 2 years 30k. I got a Microguard this time for 8 bucks. Figure 8 x 2.5 it's less than half of what the Amsoil filter would cost.

An Amsoil representative recently told me to keep checking the fitment page for my vehicle. About every 6 months, new filters will become available. He was unable (or unwilling) to say what filter will be released.

The filter was designed for a stock set-up not twin turbos. It also looks VERY dirty. Interesting that it didn't block flow and choke or anything.........that engine is moving a HUGE amount of air.

That poor filter is way over its design limits I think. This is one of the few apps I would go with a K&N over a EAA. I mean, if I have the cash (or credit:P) to drop on a balls to the wall twin turbo setup, Im going to rebuild the engine, and expect to have to do that every so often. Its not an application I could see putting 300-500k on, so why would it really matter? Some filtration is better than filter chunks.
