Slalom44 posted a photo of the old (Perma-Cool) Amsoil dual bypass mount on the thread about "not sure how an Amsoil dual bypass works". That got me to thinking about it. The one I bought about 11 years ago and just mounted in my Jeep about a week ago is just like the one in the photo. Amsoil's newer dual bypass mounts are something different. Is it a better unit, or did Amsoil change it so they could market their own design instead of Perma-Cool's? It looks like they use smaller hoses now too. I tried to buy new high pressure hose for mine and NAPA did not have it. Also, one more question: Have any of you done a UOA on your oil after installing the Amsoil dual bypass and compared it with a UOA from the same vehicle with only a full flow filter? Does the UOA show the bypass filter is well worth the money? Thanks.

Call Amsoil help. There is one guy incharge of the filter stuff. He is very helpful and will answer all your questions without a sales pitch.

The newer AMSOIL dual filter mounts are a huge improvement in quality of production. They are milled from solid aluminum billet material, and are of aircraft quality. Not likely you ever get the seepage which seem to be a bit less than uncommon with the older cast aluminum. Pricier? Yes

Far as the hoses--again, great improvement. Much more secure connections. Actually, since you bought yours, there are probably 2 generations of change.

Is it worth the money? Something you'll have to decide for yourself. In my opinion, anyone running a diesel, or fleet operations, or even commercial lawnmowers would benefit enough to justify it.
Since you already have one, the cost of putting it on and maintaining is is extremely low and a no-brainer.

Mine did not leak on the first installation, and so far, it's leak free on my Jeep. Maybe I am lucky? How about the internal by-pass design? Mine uses a steel ball and a spring. I thought I read a post where they changed something in there.

Thanks,
Neal

I get confused ,is the dual bypass the one with 2 bypass elements for large capicity oil pans "semi truck installation" or is it the one with a full flow and a bypass.
