Amsoil bypass filter hose

I have an Amsoil BK13 bypass filter and one of the hose is starting to leak.

Wher can I find suitable hose ( other than Amsoil ) to replace it with?

What do I ask for?

I believe that you want #4 hose to work with the collars. I've never used a non-externally jacked hose with the AN type collar'd fittings. My experience is with stainless steel jacketed hose when using them.

Measure the OD of the hose. Then look at the chart here. . That will give you an idea of what fits inside the collar. I imagine that 3/16 ID is what you need.

I have used stainless braided 8AN hose and aluminum 8AN fittings on my BMK-13 unit. Actually, I'm also using the stock Amsoil hoses as well, but I've added a prelube pump and used the stainless braided hose from the pump to the inlet of the BMK-13 unit.

I picked up my hose & couplings from Jegs. They have a store near where I live. I've had my setup in my car for over 4 years now with no leaks.

One benefit of the braided hose over Amsoil's hose is that it is more flexible, and can be bent to a sharper radius. The Amsoil hose is very stiff, but works well.

I used the Stainless Steel brake line from Summitt, they are pressure tested to 4000 psi and heat rated to over 500 degrees....They have the 'an' fittings and everything plus you can add the billet hose clamps ect ect ect

I'm using regular hydraulic hose for my bypass...nothing special, cheaper, and it holds up just fine.

I think I bought 50-feet of 1/4"ID 3500psi gates hose for under $35 from eBay...

Yeah ..but you only get bragging rights in the cheapskate thread.

That's a good price. It's probably not as flexible as trans cooler hose for radius bending properties ..but it's hard to argue with under a buck a foot.

Definitely not a tight radius...even the 1/4" stuff will only do about a 6" radius without really being tight.

I used hydraulic line more for the overall toughness and abrasion resistance than the pressure capabilities. If you think that's cheap, then you'll really laugh a the fact I used barbed fittings with the hydraulic hose...for the above mentioned reason.

I have no problems at all with hose barbs. They aren't "trick" ..but I've never had one fail.
