Amsoil billed me $41 extra w/o authorization

I've dealt with amsoil before, and never had a problem.

On January 27 I purchased several gallons of Cetane Boost for my diesel car, Metal Protectant to block salt damage, and Amsoil Signature Series oil. $348 is the price showed in my shopping cart, and authorized on my credit card.

On January 30 Amsoil added a second transaction of $41. I didn't buy anything... they just randomly added this charge.

I share this so other customers will PRINT THEIR RECEIPT when ordering online. It's probably a technical error on the website, but it is still an error. Fortunately I had the sense to save my receipt showing a bill of $348. The extra forty dollar charge does not belong.

In general I have been going a little crazy on my Cards and I have been REALLY slacking off on checking these things.

Thanks for the heads up, I am going to get back into the habit of reviewing every CC purchase and payment.

Stuff like this makes me not want credit cards. I'd hate to give up 40$ in a back alley, now they just bill you whenever they want. Legal theft.

One nice thing about a credit card is that you can contest the charges on it.

Even if you don't print the receipt,you will still have an electronic receipt in your email.

veryHeavy - Thank you very much for alerting me to this. I just placed an order on 1/29. The amount it indicated I was charged, and what ended up on my Visa account are quite different. I am in the process of getting the data from my Visa account now.

I used a coupon code for my purchase - did you use one for yours? I thought the order total was around $550 or so. When I just logged in to Amsoil, it said the order total was over $700. Something went wrong somewhere! Once I get all the data, I will call Amsoil and post the result here.

No the emailed receipt has been altered. It says $387. The online receipt says $389. The invoice summary says 409. Major website errors here! As I said I'm glad I printed the original website page before clicking "buy", because it shows the true total of $348 I agreed to pay (and 348 on my credit card).

I know some people get angry when I use the term "bait and switch" but this is it:
BAIT: $348 in my shopping cart (~650 in btanchors cart)
SWITCH: Randomly increase the price to some higher value. On my card it is shown as two separate transactions on different days, so the second unauthorized charge will be easy to get refunded.

So... Did you contact Amsoil to get it corrected or did you just come here first?

With all the criticism you post about Amsoil I can't imagine why you would buy anything from them in the first place.

Exactly. Im clising tgis down until there is the effort of taking it up with Amsoil.
