Do you live among the Amish? I do. And they get sick just like everyone else. In fact they were involved in a measles outbreak in Ohio.

I live in Lancaster County, Pa. Its well known. Believe it or not. I could care less. The Amish are reluctant to discuss their personal lives with outsiders. They are very friendly people. I have had dealings with many. I can speak Pa. "Dutch"..they appreciate that.

And I live in the No. Indiana, LaGrange, Elkhart, County area, my mother was up from the Amish, I to can speak Pa. Dutch.

Have yet to see anyone post any stats. You stating it's well known means what?

Today's kids spend unbelievable a,punts of time sedentary, eat processed garbage goods, drink floridated water and their parents tend to be worked to bone just to keep garbage food on the table.
The pop and potato chip aisle at the grocery store is larger and better stocked then the organic food is.
When I was growing up my mom got fresh kill chickens from my aunts farm,as well as pork. Beef came from the farm down the road from my aunts. Eggs were from another farm a couple miles from my aunts farm.
Mom baked the bread we ate and very little processed food was consumed.
I played hockey all winter and ball all summer.
To this day I don't get sick. I don't remember the last time I was ill. I don't eat as well as I used to though and I have put on weight, since I hurt my back my weight training routine was canned.
Today's kids are screwed from the start. Vaccines with mercury in them getting a bunch all at once. Autism rates thru the roof compared to pre vaccination data.
Meals in a bag warmed up by nutrition killing microwaves,GMO's and pesticides genetically fortified in the seeds before it grows.
All this contributes to health. We eat like carp today because moms too busy to cook and dad might not be around.
I don't doubt for a minute as a species we are evolving backwards.
Sterile environments means the body never develops natural immunity. Raw sewage dumps in our waterways. Pesticides and herbicides in the water table.
Heck ya kids are sick. They don't even have a chance.

Eat sensibly, exercise, and hope for the best. Some folks seem obsessed with wanting to live a long life. The biggest factor in longevity is the gene pool we inherit. Living a long healthy life is basically a carp shoot.... along with making wise health choices and trying not to step out in front of a bus.

All I know about the Amish is very limited. My father lives in Western New York where a fairly good size community of Amish inhabit the farmlands. I've lived there for a very short period and also visited many times.
My contact with them was limited. I know that my father used to give them rides in the car to get to doctors appointments. They seemed to have all the ailments of the rest of us...with one big exception. Dental health! Very poor grooming habits, including the care of the teeth, seems to be an issue for them. It is my understanding that poor dental care is a cause of some health concerns and can even lead to a shorter lifespan. I don't know if that is documented...but if so, I would imagine the Amish would be at the top of the list for poor health due to severe tooth decay.
Many folks assume that the Amish, living off the land (as they say), would have a healthy diet. From what I know, and have seen, the occasional trips to Walmart have shopping carts full of junk food and candy. Most of the females are very overweight as well. Not to disparage them though, as I respect them for the lives they live. I'm just not sure they do better or live longer without as many vaccines and/or pharmacy drugs than mainstream cultures.

It's true that vaccines have accomplished great good. It's easy to find real success stories.

The problem is that nowadays big pharma is swimming in profit while government funding for health research has dwindled sharply. So big pharma is funding the research. And they naturally fund research that leads to more profits and market for themselves, not research that aims to improve the health of the citizens.

And I agree with d00df00d's summary. We the people must take responsibility for our own health. If we just go with the flow then beware that the flow is profit-driven, not health-driven.

They will tell you that children need to be protected and isolated from harm and always supervised especially when it comes to taking their medications.

Besides being exposed to every bug in the neighborhood we also played outside and ran around playing games that required physical activity, rain or shine. Everyone played, no one sat on the sidelines. I don't think I ever knew a fat kid in elementary school but that was a long time ago.

So your solution is to make your kids sick, sorry, but that's just sick.

Not my solution. I was just a kid.

The trouble is that your immune system needs to get hit once in a while so it can develop its own protections. The human body is meant to work and get stressed. Your digestive system is your immune system and if you're not active and you eat a lot of junk what chance does it have to do its best work.

Just consider this. Look what's coming across the border with Mexico. A bunch of human incubators with untold number of diseases, some old friends that were put to rest and some new ones. There's also MDR versions of tuberculosis and other diseases that are very close to untreatable or at least very expensive to treat. The open border is open to a lot more than just drugs and crime.

True about the border issues with disease. It's happened time and time again in our schools where illegals are enrolled. It's not the poor kids fault...but it's a shame that our own citizens get exposed in such a way.
Dr. Savage...although an entertainer, is right about this issue.

There's a lot of anecdote here, but the vaccine info is pure nonsense. The dose makes the poison, so trace amounts of Thimerosal that aren't ingested at toxic levels aren't toxic. Also, the chemical compound of Thimerosal isn't mercury any more than table salt is chlorine gas.

Furthermore, Thimerosal was taken out of childhood vaccines in the United States in 2001.

Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccines do not and never did contain thimerosal. Varicella (chickenpox), inactivated polio (IPV), and pneumococcal conjugate vaccines have also never contained thimerosal.

Influenza (flu) vaccines are currently available in both thimerosal-containing (for multi-dose vaccine vials) and thimerosal-free versions. Citation

Now, the autism nonsense has been disproven over and over again. Correlation does not imply causation.

You are living in the past. Not a good thing. They now vaccinate against smallpox by using killed virus unlike the "live" virus used in the late 1800's.

no no , I was asking, if I have the flu, how do I know what flu I have?

Illegals really have "rights" Americans don't have. These are "de facto" rights. By not enforcing requirements on illegals you give them"rights"

Just looking at Autism numbers, here's a question:

If this keeps going, in the near future, will everyone have Autism??

One cause, however insignificant, in the increase of autism is the fact that there is more money available to test for and treat autism. If there's no money for treatment then your kid may not officially be diagnosed.

Yes. Monsanto and Big Pharma is giving us all the autisms. :-(

stockrex,

The hospitals I visit do not force their employees to get flu shot. If they decline the shot they have to wear a mask in patient care areas.

Thank God I do not visit the hospitals you visit.

A "rapid test" can confirm you have a flu, a more complex lab test (PCR - polymerase chain reaction) will tell which strain you have. You will probably have to pay out of pocket for the latter.

No, they don't. They simply shun studies.

This
Amish men beat their wives a lot. Lots of anecdotal evidence.
Wives should be beat daily ,just because you don't know what they did they do!
