More likely, she touched a doorknob where a sick patient left some bug for the next lucky soul to catch.

When you go to the Dr or hospital, you are in contact with sick people. That's your most likely source of illness.

She has worked 20 years at hospital never gotten flu or sick with direct patient contact. She knows what she is doing I think.

When I was a kid if someone showed up with a childhood disease they'd have a party and put all the kids that never had that particular disease together with the sick kid, sort of an inoculation process. When younger people hear about this they cringe. Many claim that children should not be exposed to anything that might make them sick. They will tell you that children need to be protected and isolated from harm and always supervised especially when it comes to taking their medications.

Besides being exposed to every bug in the neighborhood we also played outside and ran around playing games that required physical activity, rain or shine. Everyone played, no one sat on the sidelines. I don't think I ever knew a fat kid in elementary school but that was a long time ago.

I wouldnt blame big pharma as much as I would blame eating nothing but over processed foods with chemicals you cant pronounce in the ingredients. And kids dont go outside and play nearly as much anymore it seems.

Doesn't matter. You can't get the flu from the flu shot.

The linked article is heavy on causation....and extremely weak on facts and data.

It also comes from a highly slanted perspective given the source of the publication as well as the individual that authored it.

I'd prefer to get my health related information from a more middle ground source.

Just my opinion.

Yup. Most people don't "vet" their information source.

I personally think mayoclinic.com is very good

No, they don't. They simply shun studies.

I'm with you on this. The article was hinting at being anti-vaxxer, but I agree with the processed foods part. Physical education is very important for kids.

This
Amish men beat their wives a lot. Lots of anecdotal evidence.

Years ago we didn't have any meds known to give them, so we just let them die and buried them.

So your solution is to make your kids sick, sorry, but that's just sick.

Back that up with a link proving it.

Do you live among the Amish? I do. And they get sick just like everyone else. In fact they were involved in a measles outbreak in Ohio.

What was the time frame between getting the shot and getting sick?

It's like the constant pushing of the flu shot. No thanks. I'm statistically more likely to die in a car accident than from the Flu. And I've got thousands of years of evolution in my body to fight it off. I could also use some time off work.

That works well till you get sick. To refuse a $10 dollar shot to protect yourself is nothing short of foolish.

Had a good friend die from the flue, early 50's, picture of health, was dead in less than 12 hours, spent the last 6 in the hospital.

Statistically it's unlikely I'll have a head on, but I still don't hug the center line.

Well she is not the only one who gets the flu after getting the shot. I got 2 of them this time. Let's see....
interesting trivia is that my employer "hospital" insists on us taking the flu shot every year so we have the latest antibody, but if you read the label on the edu leaflet all the antibodies are from 2013 germ strain, what the....

You are living in the past. Not a good thing. They now vaccinate against smallpox by using killed virus unlike the "live" virus used in the late 1800's.

I live in Lancaster County, Pa. Its well known. Believe it or not. I could care less. The Amish are reluctant to discuss their personal lives with outsiders. They are very friendly people. I have had dealings with many. I can speak Pa. "Dutch"..they appreciate that.
