Hey all. I try as much as possible to buy American made products. Most Napa oil filters used to be USA made, but my last purchase of one of their pro-select filters wast made in Vietnam, and from a different manufacturer than than the old ones I still had in stock with the same part number. The threads were wrong and would not screw on. My question, short of going to auto parts stores and reading the box, are there any oil filters that are usually made in the USA?

Fram still makes most of their oil filters in the US. Most Champs are also made in the US. Champion makes lots of filters including house brands. If it has yellow-dotted text on top of the filter, it's a Champ.

Owner of local Car Quest said Donaldson is making their premium oil filters now.
Thanks for the news.
I'm so jaded -having heard so many speak without knowledge- I have to wonder if it's true.

Do Donaldson filters perform well? Seriously, I know the name from here, but never saw the name top of any list.

According to recent threads about Microgard, Vietnam COO is very good.

I just got two 57060 Microgards and they were USA COO, so dunno who made those?

Point being you might check the Microgards at your O'Reilly for your application. Supposedly they're slowly transitioning to MIC, so maybe my USA was old stock. You have to open each box and check the stamp on the filter itself

Champ makes Canadian Tire OE plus filters sold in Canada. They have the same dot matrix printing on top and Made in USA.
While on the topic of Canadian Tire, I wonder who makes the Castrol, Pennzoil, Mobil and K&N branded filters?
There’s a problem with customers switching filters and boxes, that’s why the expensive ones are taped shut and the K&Ns are behind lock and key.
Regardless, I always check to make sure I’m getting the filter I’m paying for.

Mann-Hummel has plants in Fayetteville, NC (formerly Purolator) and Gastonia, NC (formerly WIX), Hengst has a plant outside of Camden, SC. Not all SKU's are made at these plants. Years ago I was told by WIX lower volume SKU's are sourced from other, sometimes, off-shore mfger's. His comment was, "everyone sells everyone else's filter in some capacity."

I use Fram oil filters, Fram tough guard's are my go to oil filter. Made in the USA and get the job done, Majority of oil filters are made overseas especially dealer OE oil filters.

And mahn hummel bought napa gold and outsourced it for cheap labor.

If I recall, the Fleetguard LF16035 for the Cummins ISB is made in Mexico.

In medium duty versions the LF3970 is made in India. Bought them at a truck dealer so being counterfeit was out of the question.
