Didn't put this in "Sales & Promotions" as this is a normal, not discounted price. Considering the price jumps on everything, this one doesn't seem to be affected (yet). There was some talk about 5w50 grades recently, and this one seems like the best deal. I'd stock up before the price jumps, if I needed this oil. This one is ~$85 for 12qts. Every other 5W50 I saw is $50-$80 for 6qts... So $100-$160 for 12qts. Not a bad deal for good oil.

Yeah, I find that Amalie is the budget lower priced oil offering that meets Dexos1 and other approvals/carts.

I believe Amalie is the house brand at Carquest right now, and I think they also made/make Fram oil, which Carquest carries (unless they’ve discontinued it). I have 7 quarts of various weights in my garage (5W30, 5W20, 0W20). I’d say five of those quarts are 0W20, with the other two being the 5W20 and 5W30. I’m going to make a FrankenBrew and run it for 7,500-10,000 miles in June.

Anyone ever do a voa or uoa on Amalie 5w50 or 15w50? I drove 10k miles (2 oil changes with Amalie 5w50) in my car. It was fine I guess. It got really thin when draining it and very dark but its the cleaning properties. Texas heat too on the oil and two turbos pushing 600 hp.

The eye viscometer is notoriously inaccurate.

Plus the color is not indicative of cleaning. Does the blender even make a claim that the oil cleans? That takes something more than a typical Group III base stock.

All oils have the ability to clean with their detergent levels. What are you even talking about. I never said eyeing an oil was accurate. It seemed thinner than 15w50 Napa valvoline and I ran it since because its $4.87 a quart usually and very good oil for the price.

Detergents in oil do not clean.

You know nothing about oil. Good day sir!
No, it is you that does not. Detergents are dispersants that help to keep deposits from occurring. They do not clean. It's a common misconception due to the use of the word.

Cleaning existing deposits is far more difficult. It is usually related to the use of esters in the base stock formulation.

And it is a good day for sure.
