Was looking for an alternative since Noco wanted $8.37/l for Esso XD3 0W40 and Walmart was even more expensive.

Found Rotella 5W40 Synthetic for $123/20l pail at Kenworth. I will be using this from now on, after having used XD3 for the last twelve years.

Canadian Tire Stores sell Shell Rotella 0W-40, which is very similar to XD-3. They very often have it on sale; but even the regualar price of $30/4l. isn't that bad......

TDT5W40 was even more expensive than XD3 0W40 at Walmart.

I have never seen any Rotella other than 15W40 dino at C. Tire in Toronto. Perhaps C. Tire in the western provinces might carry RTS.

I can get Rotella 15W40 at a lower price at the Freightliner dealership than at C. Tire, even when on sale at C. Tire.

TDT is actually cheaper because you are getting 5L of it instead of the 4L of the XD-3.

I do remember noticing that TDT came in the 5l jug, IIRC around $41 at Walmart. Cheaper than XD3, but still over $8/l. The Mercedes 906 in a Freightliner at work takes 25l of oil for an oil change, so the over $8/l hurts.

Cummins Eastern Ontario in Mississauga wanted over $10/l for Valvoline Premium Blue Synthetic. Who would want to pay that kind of money? Wonder how much oil they sell at that price?

That was a while back it's around $35 a jug now.I'm sticking with the XD-3 because my Jeeps run great on the stuff!

Are you sure greaser?I called the Comber store for my friend and the lady said $22,unless she misunderstoud me ,but I asked for 0-30 or 40.I was suprised as it seems like a old price ,but he said he bought at the store on St Luke for what I was quoted over the phone.
I will just have to see for myself and head out to Comber on mon,I need some anyway for the spring O.C.

Well now I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas!

Greaser, I still use the 0-30 XD3 in my X-trail, never change using it either in that vehicle, do you have a UFA there, they sell 0-30 and 0-40 XD3 in Polar Plus UFA bottling for little over $5.00-$5.50 bucks per litre in 5 litre jugs. Look for the blue lable with polar bear on it in UFA signature, the UFA attendant will be glad to show you in thier books that it is truely XD3 Syn oil.

In my other vehicles I am going to Boss Blue Ram as alternative to XD3, 15-40 dino HDEO CI4/SL. -42 C pour point which is amazing compared to anyother dino 15-40 at about -30C, I figure they must be filtering out the wax on this stuff and selling very inexpensively, CST 100C just over 15, TBN of 14 which exceeds XD3. Long term OCI oil, great add pack, great flow for $3.45. With block heaters and sump heat pads and this great cold flow, I will use it year round and save on syn oil costs. To note, Boss oil air injects all their additives, I read their background info, interesting.

Boss is near you in Calgary, http://www.bosslubricants.com, look under specs and find then engine oil, find Boss Blue Ram, the spec sheet is there, good stuff, worth a look. Boss oil outlets are popping up all over rural areas in Alberta and Sask now, lots farmers/ranches using Boss on their machines, Boss is doing good in norther U.S. too. You will see a lot of great HDEO oils in syn, blends, all different types of CI-4/SLs and CJ-4. Some times a good find is right in our backyard locally.

Please dont click on the link in my other post if interested in Boss oil site, the comma will make link wrong.

http://www.bosslubricants.com will get you there if anyone interested in Boss as alternative, I found it a nice find in my oil choice, works for me.

My mistake Greaser, I though you were from Alberta, got your loction mixed up with Yuk, if you remember we all used to be in quite a few XD3 discussions. I dont know if Boss oil has reached the east yet, getting popular now here in the west.
