ALL MTF's don't shift the same!

I have tried 3 different Top-of-the-Line MTF's and it is amazing how differently they shift in my '01 Integra GSR. I tried the OEM Honda MTF and it really did good after I first changed it. About 5000 miles later I changed to Amsoil and it did even better for about 5000 miles. I changed it yesterday with Red Line MTF at Molakule's suggestion and it shifts like a different transmission. It seems a little thicker with more "cushion". 30 degrees this morning and no problem with clunkiness. 2nd gear is scrape free (for those of you that are familiar with this transmission!). The Honda MTF didn't get rid of the 2nd gear scrape.

I know all these MTF's are great. My post is just to let you know to try a few different MTF's before you settle in on what you think is best for your application. I'm so impressed with Red Line here, I'm gonna try some of their gear oil.

I'll let you know the final results in about 5000 miles.

My only complaint with redline is that the feel is lost after a winter or two, while the amsoil stays consistent IME.

I also tried Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple and GM Synchromesh in my 2007 Civic Si 6speed. I wouldn't say they all performed differently because all would make the gear shifts smooth as butter for about 15,000 miles and then go south.

I had a modified shifter and could feel each gear VERY well and it was quite obvious when the gear would feel notchy and not want to engage the next gear as smooth without some resistance felt through the shifter.

In my Versa, I dumped the factory fill after 10K and put Nissan Factory MTF (Dino I presume). Still didnt get rid of the 2nd gear notchyness. Replaced with Redline, 2nd gear is MUCH better. Has been so for the last almost 20K.

I hate the OE fluid in my Jeeps NV3550 trans. It makes the trans "hang up" when shifting. I switched to the RP stuff and it's been fine since.

While I have not tried Red Line in my Civic, I do agree that was a major plus for the Amsoil. Shift quality was consistent and didn't just go south and stay there after relatively short mileage on the Honda Genuine MTF(3,000-5,000...gag me now). I'd imagine Red Line and products like the GM FMSM MTF would work well in my app. Not sure about the Royal Purple product as Artem mentioned, but if he says it worked in his Civic with no real difference probably the same for me.
