Alignment Question on New Car

Thanks for all the info everyone. Really appreciate it. I like my dealer a lot so I'll have them check it today (have an appointment at 4). I'll be nice and ask but am fully prepared to pay the $99.99 alignment.

Will scan in the alignment sheet when I get it.

Thanks, I guess!

The first statement from that link is following:-
"Find more work, obtain more customer authorizations, increase service revenue!"

and it says absolutely nothing about ft/mi. Most of the alignment printouts that I have seen had them measured in degrees and I was not aware of ft/mi measurement.

Always ask for an alignment, complete with printout, every time you buy any new car! They should do that for every customer, but they don't unless you ask. And don't pay extra for this. your new car should come properly aligned!

Lesson learned. Will be doing from this point on. This is my first new car so I'm learning a lot. Thanks.

Dealership has refused to give a free alignment. Not a problem. I'm thinking about taking it to a local shop - my coworker knows the owner of the shop and its reviews are A+. Will scan in alignment sheet when I get it.

Thanks for the help all.

I would complain higher up, call Honda Customer Service and explain to them what happened. There is NO reason a car that young should not have a warranty alignment, unless there is obvious customer damage.

I think your dealer is messing up BIG time by not doing a free alignment. I'd mention it to Honda Corporate. Hope you have the issue resolved quickly!

Took the car to Bob's Tire here in Victorville. They put the car up and Jeff had me come to the alignment area and showed me the results saying everything was perfect. He said the red areas they can't change and are from factory. He said if this was his car he wouldn't do anything. These guys saved me $130 from the dealership. I gave them a little tip and I'll be coming back for anything tire related.

. Fine with me. Bob's tire is 2x closer than the dealership and I'm sure they could use the business more than the dealership.

This. I've only had one vehicle in my life come out of the dealer misaligned and it wore a tire quickly but drove ok. It was fixed and two tires were provided free as well.

Op is experiencing a DEALER issue, the car could easily be fixed but the stealership refuses to do so. A little customer service is/was in order!

I wonder if the OP went to the Service Manager to request that alignment, or just his SW?

If the SM refused to provide this service, which is reasonable then I agree he should call Honda and let them know about the issue.

There have been NUMEROUS threads concerning the shortsighted, and many times obnoxious attitude towards customers when it comes to $tealerships, yet these places NEVER seem to change their ways, and whine like spoiled brats about the poor reputation they receive from the general public. Fact is they EARN that reputation, it is well deserved.

Good question. Originally I was going to just let it go but when people started posting how the Dealership should cover this, I called the Service department - got the first girl - told her my problem and asked for a free alignment, got transferred to another older woman who seemed to know a bit more - told her my problem and asked for a free alignment. She said she didn't think so but she'd ask the manager. After a good few minutes she came back on the line saying: "We'll gladly check it for free." I asked, "So, I'd have to pay for it if the alignment is out?" She said: "Yep sorry." I canceled my appointment and made an appointment at Bob's Tire and never regretted it.

I mean, I understand. I have 7,000 miles on my Honda. I know I didn't hit anything but they don't know that. I can understand why they wouldn't want to offer it for free. I got much better service at Bob's Tire and will be going back there for all my tire/wheel service needs. The $tealership is just too expensive and they don't seem to care tho they try on the surface.

I mean really? $80 Full Synthetic oil changes. $89 cabin filter replacement. $40 engine air filter replacement. And that's just the start. Who can afford to have the $tealer do their vehicle work?
