Aisin Trans. Rec. Fluid Changes Every 12.5K, '25 Rav4

This post is not telling anyone what to do. It's just an announcement.

Aisin makes transmissions, and their 8-speed transmission in my 2025 Rav4 has a recommended interval change of every 20,000 kilometers, aka 12,427 miles. There's no distinguished seperate intervals for severe or normal. It's a blanket 12,427 mile recommendation.

Is that in the owners manual or is this a separate recommendation by Aisin? That's wildly in the opposite direction of the trend of making them lifetime fluids.

Where did you get that information? That's quite a departure from Toyota's "lifetime" fluid recommendation with an inspection every 30k miles. (from toyota's warranty and maintenance guide)

I find it hard to believe. I don’t really see a world in which ATF fluid degrades this quickly.

With all due respect - and I'm not saying you're wrong, but I find that hard to believe. That's barely longer than a typical engine oil change interval. Surely there must be some special set of conditions that would require such a short interval.

I wonder if they want that for the initial fluid change, and then a longer interval after?

I ran across this information online while researching Aisin's recommendations. I looked past Toyota when searching. I verified this, twice, just in case. There's nothing pleasant about posting inaccurate information, so I double checked.

I think manufacturer recommendations drive a lot of bad information. There's outside influences behind their recommendations, and longevity doesn't seem to be their goal. IMO, they're heavily influenced by the 5 year cost of ownership scores.

I'm definitely open to being wrong. I don't want to change my fluid that often.
Anyone's more than welcome to try to find different Information from Aisin and post it here.

That is for the Singapore market. The recommendation might be appropriate for the driving conditions in that market.
