Gone are the video screens built into the seat backs. Now there is a little holder for your tablet or smart phone so you can provide your own entertainment.

The meals on domestic flights disappeared years or decades ago

What's next?

There is talk of bringing screens back. My delta flight had them plus free movies.

I don't see the need given the number of personal devices most people have. Half of the time the last few Delta flights I've been on they lose service and don't work anyways. Downloaded movies on your personal tablet from Prime, Disney or wherever are pretty foolproof.

I can only imagine the repairs and complaints with thousands of screens out there.
I almost always have one wide body and one single aisle connecting flight - the wide body is always more likely to have them …
Even the brand new A321’s I’m on (5 hours) no longer have screens. I use a Kindle …

Always be prepared for none of this stuff to work. It usually does, but it's not unheard of for the infotainment system to be down, Wi-Fi not working, charge port not working.

Fully charge your devices before the flight, download content to watch, if you plan to work during the flight, make sure what you need to do is downloaded in advance and can be done online.

How often do you fly??

Ticket price by weight of you and your luggage combine (or discount if that is not political correct).
Seat pricing based on auction bid.
Wifi only service request discount, pre-order your juice / tea / coffee with wifi for a discount.

Almost always have a book in my backpack and have also mastered getting sleep on airplanes most of the time.

Absolutely not, This is an AA thing which has backfired. DAL and UAL have IFE.

This is only at AA. Airbus has nothing to do with it. IFE is fairly reliable. Screens are very good for the most part. I'd say 99% or more working on any given flight. The screens are cake to change. Customers want IFE and WIFI. Very uncommon to see massive IFE outages. Simple power cycle fixes 90% of the time. Other than that a new software load.

No idea what you’re talking about …

Well you said you can't imagine the repairs and complaints on the screens. I'm just saying they're more reliable than you think.
Regardless - and lacking that PM data - the initial cost is astronomical - and then PAX watch their iPad …
That’s why I mentioned brand new planes not showing up with them anymore …
What gets me is people that can watch anything on an iPhone - but thousands do … Sure allot of eyeglasses advertised these days too 🤓
