Do you mean "Airaid" brand air filters.
They claim that they flow better and do a good job of filtering but I'm sticking with factory style treated paper elements.
Since I almost never go to WOT very often and then not very long I don't need more air flow then the stock system. Since I tend to keep vehicles I don't want to take the chance that these after market filters do a good enough job of filtering during ordinary use. Also I'm not comfortable with the idea of introducing oil into the intake system upstream from the sensors even in very small amounts.
A long time ago I worked as an engineer in the gas turbine industry and we tested every imaginable combination of filtering systems and paper elements were the best when combined with spinning intake action supplied by ducts and passages in those large filter boxes before hitting the treated paper elements.
Treated paper does a really good job.
