Since I have two unused IQv20 batteries sitting around, I am thinking about buying a cordless ratchet so that I can put one to use.

With cordless ratchets, is rpm more important than torque? I presume that one would be breaking loose the bolts before pressing the trigger anyway, so I would think that torque or breakaway torque is really a mute point?

Thoughts or comments from the daily users of these things?

Thx.

I dont have an answer, but Id rethink such a bulky thing.

I have the IR IQ series Li-ion batteries, love my impact gun... But Id get an LED light or two (the IR LED lights are REALLY good) and use that instead. To me, that ratchet, which I had considered buying is just too big and bulky to be practical. Heck, Ive started using 1/4" drive whenever/wherever I can because of how much less weight and space it takes up. It is just easier/better IMO for most stuff.

For doing stuff where there are a lot of bolts or screws that need to be removed, I got myself one of these:

and the matching impact driver, which are a nice compliment to my cordless dewalt hammerdrill/impact gun set, and my IR impact gun.

It is small, light, easy to handle, and has enough torque to spin fasteners on stuff like oil pans and AT pans.

Ive come to learn that the biggest isnt necessarily the best, and small and light trumps... Really its a matter of having the right tools for the job, but then having the smallest/lightest ones to do it.

Id go IR flashlights and then something like that Bosch and/or a speed handle set to do stuff faster.

I am not a fan of 3/8" anything. Either 1/4" or 1/2".

Looks bulky. I have an air ratchet and never use it.

Understand why your going for 3/8, that's what most socket sets are. I've been using Milwaukee for decades starting with my electronic assy days. Flawless operation, last for years. Flawless long lasting batteries too. I have the screwdriver, ratchet, and drill.

I have zeroed in on the Dewalt 18V XPR battery and have a bunch of tools that use it. So I agree with you. But many batteries (like the Dewalt XPR 18V) would be too big and bulky for a cordless ratchet.
