I need an air compressor, the free air station was trashed and air is now $1.50. I'm looking for a 3 gallon +- 120 volt unit. I looked at the Craftsman #15310 and it felt CHEAP and made in China. I am also looking at the TSC Husky, and the Walmart Campbells Hausfeld. Whats a good one? I want durability, I perfer an oil lubed pump that I can flush, and a serviceable air filter. Thanks, Dusty

Look around on craigslist and in pawn shops. Most homeowner/ ghetto contractor types are designed for 120V/ 15 amps so most make about the same amount of power/air. You may find one with better build quality from some time ago, maybe even made in a 1st world country. My big lots china compressor is coming up on its tenth birthday, gotta change the oil for the first time soon. wink Sure the pipes going up to the regulator look a little ghetto but it works.

If the Makia will last 5 years it will have paid for itself. The Husky, CH, and Craftsman about 3 years. I thought the Campbells was made in the US? Someone mentioned it here, but I can't find the post. Is the Makita servicable? looks to be

I'd spend a few extra bucks and get a good one that will last many years. Tractor supply has a nice Campbell-Hausfeld, USA made, 20 gal unit for $369, sometimes on sale for $339. http://www.tractorsupply.com/campbell-ha...86#BVRRWidgetID

I live in a 600 Sq/Ft apartment need something no bigger than the 3 gallon. The Makita mac700 looks like "the" compressor.

Trav, Thank You. Your recommendation is helpful and that's what I'm looking for, compact and DURABLE!

If you get a belt driven one buy an extra belt. I'm currantly going through this problem. I have a great compressor but I need a belt and it's obsolete. It's just different enough that an automotive belt wont work.

I like the fact that the Makita is rated as a mini contractor grade unit. About a durable as it gets..Hope this baby lasts me 30 years.lol

Just ordered it..Should arive in 3-5 days. Question: Does amsoil make a synthetic compressor pump lube? I could not find any RP. Dusty

Yes, the one you want is the Amsoil PCK ISO 100

Your info wasn't bad. For his climate for the Makita, it's ISO 100 which comes in quarts. We are just so used to speaking in "SAE". Anyway for SAE 30/40 applications Amsoil recommends PCK.

You are the MAN Pablo! Thanks. Can I order it from you or is another method recommended?
