You could save a lot of wear and tear, you'll save gas and put out a lot less emissions if you just walk that 3miles or ride a fancy bike. It's 3 miles, be good for you.

Why are you advising how to live their life here? Oil advice is fine but to tell them how to live is just nonsense in my personal opinion. Plant a tree to off set his carbon footprint.
Just checked the oil today at 3%, mileage unknown. It was a whole quart low. This engine has never used oil before, and is not leaking any either. Topped up with the leftover quart of 5W30 ST from the Maxima.
I will be going back to 5w30 conventional next payday and will never look back.
The Napa oil is made by Valvoline. Weather you use the synthetic or conventional, it is good oil and can be had pretty cheap when its on sale.
I wouldn't sweat it using 1 quart of oil in 8 months!
It is not uncommon for an engine to use a little oil when you switch brands. Normally only happens on the 1st change and by the 2nd run it will be fine. Not exactly sure why it happens, but I've heard it on this board before.
