I have a 2013 Honda CRV and plan to change oil per the OLM. It takes 0W20 4 quarts give or take. I usually do 1-3 mile short trips with an occasional HWY run each month. I noticed the Napa 0w20 full synthetic is on sale, the Pennzoil Synthetic Blend, or Quaker State Ultimate Durability as affordable options. Would any of these not be a good choice for following the OLM? Is there a lot of difference between these oils? Is it worth the extra to step up to Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy,EP, or Pennzoil Platinum? I'm planning on using the OEM filter at each change.

All would be good choices for following the OLM. I like to use the cheapest synthetic on sale and run it to the suggested OCI.

What kind of OCI does your OLM usually suggest?

Go to Walmart a get a 5 quart jug of Castrol Edge,Pennzoil platinum,Mobil 1,etc. Full synthetic is better mpg than other oils. Castrol Edge runs good in my '14 2.4 Accord.

If you can get the NAPA Synthetic cheap, go for it. Otherwise, M1 - PP - Castrol are all great. Even Walmart SuperTech Synthetic (5W-20) should have no problem following the OLM. ST will likely come out w a 0W-20 soon - I'm betting this year.

Any 0w-20 oil that meets the specs for your Honda will do. Napa is a quality oil.

It sounds like you run a lot of short trips. That would put you more into a severe service oil change interval. Check your owners manual to see what Honda recommends. If your vehicle has a IOLM, then you can go by that if you wish. Your owners manual will guide you as to which way to go.

Tried them all a few years ago in the forester. Only Vaklvoline 0w20 kept the TCT from sticking and the VVT mechanism you can see from the fill hole sludge free.

The best-est is supposed to be Eneos Sustina.
Didn't like Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra at all. Lost fuel mileage and lost oil out the tailpipe.

The computer tells what services are due as well as oil changes. I don't think the manual lists any schedule other than following the computer.
