I have been trying to get an Amsoil Eaa filter since they became available. Amsoil has no plans to make a filter for the 1993 Civic anytime soon. I understand however, that custom Amsoil filters may be constructed if dimensions, fit, and model are given. An example filter sent to Amsoil is preffered and I will certainly send one once this program is officially announced. I went with the AFE Dry Pro out of the need for a better filter and because Amsoil didn't see fit to make one available.

True, although 0 silicon would be the most desirable. I ordered the AFE filter before I found out Amsoil may be getting into the custom filter business. I may never get to use the Dry Pro filter if this is true.

I just dropped in the dry pro. I like the way it fits, the seal is made of a very supple material and fits very well. I have'nt noticed any performance changes though, I will have to wait to see if there is any effect on the fuel mileage.
 
I like the pro dry so much, I ordered another one. One in the car and a clean one for the next change interval. I can take my time cleaning the dirty one and then put it up on the shelf at the ready.
 
I really like the Pro Drys performance. According to the UOA from Blackstone, the silica was 13 ppm. I will have to see what it is the next go round.
 
The second AFE filter for my Civic finally arrived, it only took 2 months this time. The visual quality is a good as the first one, excellent seal and assembly. One filter in the car and the other for the shelf for the next change interval.

A certain amount of impatience I guess. I really don't want to keep things opened up, waiting for the filter to dry. Just clean and polish the intake tract and throw in the new clean filter. I will have plenty of time to clean the dirty filter later.

The latest UOA shows the silicon level at 5PPM. It looks like the Pro Dry is doing a good job. Wear metals are very low;

Aluminum---------3 PPM
Chromium---------1
Iron-------------7
Copper-----------1
Lead-------------0
Tin--------------0

I am not absolutely sure yet, but I'm thinking that the Pro Dry may be a good substitute for the Amsoil filter. I will have to wait for future used oil analysis to monitor silicon levels and wear metals.

My overall MPGs have been going up. My overall average is now 38.6, that includes local and HWY driving. I am just very pleased in how much more responsive the engine has become with the Pro Dry s. If it can protect the engine (so far so good) and deliver better MPGs, I will stick with it unless Amsoil sees fit to make their version available......not holding my breath.
 
The results of the latest UOA are in. Only 3 PPM Silicon! This filter really does a great job and I can now recommend it to anyone that wants excellent filtration and good airflow.
