I bought something from Advance Auto Parts early part of the month and returned it within a couple days and it has not been posted to my credit card yet. I have called twice and sent an email and have had no response. The person at the store had no clue and just kept repeating that it was my credit card company fault without even looking into it at all that is when I wasted my time calling the company. Of course you always get an answering machine. I am through doing any business with Advance Auto, they could at least have the decency to respond. I gave them all the info from the receipt. No excuse, this speaks for itself

In the past, I have returned items to Advance, which I had originally purchased with a credit card. They gave me my refund in cash. Auto Zone has done the same.

Give your credit card company a couple more days. They can be slow to post transactions to your account.

Credit card companies are pretty mean to businesses when it comes to customers using credit cards. Most charge the business around 2-3% of the transaction with a minimum fee that is applied if the purchase is very low-priced. There is also a monthly fee to lease the credit card machine and the needed connections to dial in the purchases.

With all that being said, some businesses are reluctant to do returns on credit cards straight up because they may get charged a fee for the return. They may just lump them together in one return at the end of the month.

Plus one. I've worked at a retail startup, so I know how this is.

Wait for your monthly statement, credits are sometimes handled differently.

There was a time a few years ago when walmart triple charged mastercards on april fools day, I did not see the refund online but it was on my statement.

The clerk you get on the phone has limited information on his computer, he only knows what he sees, in a way I'm glad they can't pry too deeply into my credit card business or their own books.
