@jeepman3071 How did this turn out? Did you ever get to a point where the spin-on filters were still clean after being run for a while?
@mitsuman47 It has been great. So far the spin-on filters are looking better and better. I only drive this Jeep in the warm months 3-4000 miles per year, so I change the filters once a year at this point and they look good.

Did/do you still have good heat at idle? I saw a couple comments on another site claiming these restrict flow too much at idle.

@BC1

Yes, still have perfect heat. It's better than it has ever been since now the heater core isn't plugged full of junk. In theory, if the filter plugged up then yes the heat would suffer, but especially now that the filters are much cleaner inside when I cut them open it isn't an issue. Again if I bought this Jeep new and changed the coolant on time, I wouldn't need this filter, but since it was neglected before my ownership this filter is good insurance and very little maintenance to keep the cooling system clean on an engine with an iron block and head.

Thanks, I am in the same boat you were. Bought a 4.7 WJ about a year ago and have had to flush whole system 3 times since the heat stops working from crud. First time I pulled the block drains I had to drive a punch through the rust on both sides to get any coolant at all to come out.
