"...Shut up Junior, it only happened because there's few of you left..."

"...Yeah, but but but - wasn't that because most of us were raced to the bone in Europe and didn't leave any air for anyone else to breathe in our class except for Quattros on those few rainy races, and we all ended up in parts ???..."

"...Will you shut up and let the adults speak you nasty little reality shoe-pebble you ?!?... Don't you know you're not allowed to let reality or facts in the way of a good story, per Internet rules ? Huh ? Do you ?!? Shooo !!!"

Your "stats" belie the truth that Lexus LS gouged away substantial market share from the Germans...in the US, today, Lexus owns that market, and they earned it. In that market, Lexus is the most reliable, yet it can handle as well as the best of them.
Absolutely. Some buyers were out for the three pointed star, or the roundel, but when the LS hit - even though it was generic looking compared to the Germans, it delivered a massive shock to the European large luxury car market. The LS was and remains exceedingly comfortable, reliable, nice handling and powerful. It was a better package all-round than the big Benz, and it was an order of magnitude more reliable than it. (okay, maybe not an order of magnitude more reliable.) It was a far better value, too. I understand that the market has settled and that modern day Lexus buyers, BMW buyers and Merc buyers are somewhat different, but let's be fair: the LS is still beating Mercedes at their game.

But... but... how many NSX have you owned? 🤣

Too little, kind Sir, too little... I'd put it at minus three, as I'd be happy with about three of them.

The new TLX is quite nice looking, but this is the abomination that replaced the TL which was a super clean looking sedan. I would say the last gen TL was peak Acura when it came to looks

This was actually quite good looking, if not for the atrocious grille. Not quite into bmbeaver tooth territory, but still quite bad.

The beaver tooth you can at least sorta save with creative painting, not this thing.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that gen simply looked big and heavy, the atrocious grill was just part of its odd look IMO.
They fixed the grill mid refresh, but it still looked heavy.

Not with V8s. And certainly not with the V8s in the LS400 & LS430's direct competitors.

Mercedes V8s (M119, M113) during this time actually weren't that bad. Problem is M113 leaks from everywhere and internal seals inevitably fail mixing oil with coolant.

BMW V8s are garbage in comparison. But neither MB or BMW V8s are in the same league as the Toyota / Lexus UZ engines. UZ is the king of V8. These are the million mile engines. Plenty of UZ's still out there today, purring like a kitten.
Ford's Modular is the king of the V8. It did regular service in LEO/Livery/Limo service and regularly racked up obscene miles with marginal maintenance and having the living crap driven out of it by people that didn't care. I've personally seen a fleet example (airport Limo) with ~750,000 miles on it, still ran like a top.

Having owned a BMW V8 (S62), I certainly wouldn't call them "garbage". A bit more needy perhaps, but this was a 394HP engine with 8 throttle bodies (80.4HP/L). It's introduction coincided with the VVT version of the 1UZ-FE which made 290HP; 300HP in the GS version or 75HP/L. The Ascari A10 Supercar used a modified version of the S62 that produced 625HP. There are many high mileage examples of the S62, it had a better timing chain setup than its lower tier sibling the M62, with a dual-row chain that didn't lend itself to the guide and stretch issues that engine experienced. It also had viton o-rings in the VANOS units instead of the butyl rubber used in the non-S version, which meant fewer, and less expensive, VANOS problems. They were prone to VCT sensor issues, but there was an updated part that addressed the issue. There are several examples on M5board with very high mileage, many of which are also tracked pretty regularly.

The front end looks like that giant toothed beast from Animaniacs, lol.

The TL prior to ghat one with 6 speed manual quad exhaust was IMO one of best looking cars of its time. To design this after that TL, is actually an achievement. Similarly like BMW going from E38 7 series to E65.
