My gf got the 2002 car at 6,000 miles last year, it has 19,000 now. She wasn't too good about the oil changes, I tried to tell her it must be taken care of. Anyways she overshoots the oil changes by like 2,000 miles. Its a beautiful car, and I hate to see her ruin it.
Would ARX do any good? If I look inside the oil cap it looks very clean. Should I do maintenance dose or through in a whole bottle?
Also should I throw a few oz's in the transmission also?

To be honest I am inclined to recomend either Lube Control or Nuetra 131. 1/2 a bottle of nuetra 131 500 miles prior to oil change and she is styling. I would do this when ever she over shoots the change. I bottle of Nuetra 131 would treat the car twice and is less then $6 I belive. SOme guys use the whole bottle 500 before a change. Lube COntrol is like $28 a gallon and it only takes 2 onces per quart initialy and one once per 1000 miles as she drives. With lube control even if she over shoots the oil change she is still going to have oil that is in preety good shape!

These are just some alternative ideas!!

I tend to think that adding ANY type of cleaning product might possibly be a good idea...if there was something to clean. At only 19K miles, you've already determined the valvetrain appears clean through the filler cap. My 2002 car has almost as many miles, and the thought of adding anything to the oil hasn't even occurred to me -- I think there's good reason all the oil company websites state that "motor oil is a complete, formulated package...don't try to 'improve' it with aftermarket additives."

But if sometime down the road, should you start to suspect something's going on, or you see sludge/varnish starting to materialize, then the better aftermarket additives may start to look good.
