ACI battery supercharger question

Sounds like someone will eventually end up with an excellent used engine when the rustbucket body colapses around it.

I put about 18k miles on the odometer every year. With this trend I will get close 400k miles out of my car in 20 years. In my college years I drove a 1973 VW Super Beetle on 40 mile round trip commute to school everyday. It is STILL running now. Yes, it is a bit rusty. With today's paint techonology I think my 2003 Echo would be in much better shape than my Super Beetle 20 years later from now.

That preluber only takes 10 amps for 40 seconds. A diesel car with glow plugs is a great comparison and they start just fine with one quality battery.

Is it absolutely essential that that preluber run the whole time? What would happen if you just got in the car and started it right up? This isn't a dry sump or anything that drastic, right? I assume you're running a high quality winter oil.

What about a solar battery charger? Would that not suit your needs. Just plug it in when you park the car and unplug it when you drive away.
