What are reasonable numbers expected using the Hunter Force 9700 machine? I read < 12 lbs is good enough for passenger cars. I have 245/50/20.

What is best you have seen?

Not a tech, but have purchased over 10 sets of tires that I had Road Forced when purchased. 15 is my go to number, if they can't get it below 15 I have them order another tire, never had a problem with this at Discount Tire.

The best I've seen is 6, worst is 45 (on a out of round rim).

On my 2014 Accord one of them is 22 and I haven't had any problems with it, smooth as glass.

One thing to keep in mind on the numbers is what is the application. Truck, sedan, supercar? I've seen truck tires where 45 is good, sedans 25 is tops for me, on my Carrera 15 and under is my goal.

I had new tires put on recently and the final RF values were 12, 12, 17 and 18. Car rides fine.

I paid for road force balancing at my rural home town dealership. After I asked the teen aged tech, "what were the road force numbers"? He said,"I have no idea what you are talking about".

Waste of money that day!

There are 3 levels available to the operator. P, SUV, and LT. The failure point is different for each type of vehicle.

Best I've seen is 1. It can happen.

Called my Hunter Force representative and he said that GM calls out in a technical bulletin called bead massaging.

Looks like you need two items

Hunter Force Revolution (bead massaging)
Force Matching 180 Procedure
Watch how they drop from 26 to 12 index Road Force.
Amazing for 22" Tahoe rims.

My local shop tells me they rarely perform force matching procedure. If the runout is that bad, they won't put the tire on your car anyway.

Every tire they mount and install has road force measured. The most common reason they might force match is to prove to the tire manufacturer that the tire needs to be warrantied, and the manufacturers will replace with no questions asked if the RF measurement is over 25 lbs.

PS - Thanks for the link to the cool video!!!

This lines up very nicely with my experience.

We found that tires sometimes "stuck" to wheels such that an artificially high RoadForce value resulted. If we unseated the tire, then reseated it, or used a lot of mounting lube, we could get a much lower value.
