ACDelco PF46E 14,160 miles Cut Open

Paper media; nitrile ADBV; e-core gaps == Cheap junk, not good. That said, doubt any engine will be messed up using it. That's why GM gets away with peddling this awful product.

Yes it was. I noticed it before I even cut it open, I was honestly giddy I’d found my first torn filter

Looks like someone using something to puncture thru the media - from the outside -inward. Strange indeed!

Wide pleating, laying flat against the plastic cage = torn media.

Been there done that. Which is why I don't use ecores.

Thanks for the C&P.

Yep, in the 1st photo in the 1st post, you can see two pleat rows that are trying to blow through the center tube cage.

This filter was not having any of that extended OCI...looks like a pencil was poked through it almost. ADBV was stiff and kinda stayed bent after squeezing it hard enough.

If the thread title is correct 14,000 miles, that is insane! I did the conversion & that is over 22,000 kilometers. Ive gone by the OLS in my trucks since 2000 & I know I've NEVER gone past 14,000 kilometers. I'm thinking this is just a case of sheer neglect

I've had an Ecore blow out in exactly the same manner with less than 4k miles. That hole was probably there for 10k+ miles.

I just installed 2 ph46e on 2 v8s. Will cut open in the spring at 6500-7500 to see if they look like that
