ACdelco E-core compatability

I have what may be a stupid question. I was looking at filters for my moms 2013 dodge journey and one possible option was an ACdelco PF46E. I was drawn to this as ACdelco always seems to be pretty quality kit for the price but i noticed it was an e-core filter with the plastic center tube. Are these filters exchangeable for a standard metal center tube filter? Or do the engines have to be designed to run them? It also seemed to have no ADBV that i could see, instead it looked like it had 2 metal layers with offset holes.

I've used them on the dodge caliber before quite happily, it takes the 48E. It's that or the mopar, whichever is less expensive/available at the store I happen to stop in.

They still sell the older PF46 on Amazon. That's where I get mine.

The PF46E has an ADBV , on the ecores it's under the second metal plate with holes.

I've used a PF48E on my neighbors niece's 2011 Dodge Avenger with the 2.4 , no issues.

The latest iteration of ecore is just fine. Your vehicle must have a block
mounted bypass as the pf46 does not have an internal bypass. There is an anti drain back valve. These are quite competent filters. 94% efficient at 20 microns. I use them (PF48E) on my GM pickup with no problem.
