We recently purchased a certified 2012 Chevy Cruze with the 1.4L turbo engine. Having 31K on the clock I wanted to go through some of the replaceable items...not sure how "certified" certified is.

Anyway I ordered a replacement air filter the OEM ACDelco A3144C from Amazon for $11 and change. Upon inspection of the new filter I realized Mann had produced the Delco filter in this application as "MANN" was stamped beside the GM part number on the filter.

Secondly I'm glad I did the replacement as one of the screws holding the top on the airbox was not secured. All I need is a little dirt interacting with the turbo, huh? I guess the certification guy forgot to tighten it, huh? The old filter didn't look all that bad, just a little dirty and there were some leaves in the airbox, but it actually looks like it probably hadn't been in service long. Anyway she's all buttoned up with a clean airbox and a new AC Delco (Mann) filter.

Hello, I know Hendersonville a little bit. I've dropped in from Virginia and exited via Tennessee.

I wish you happy turbo boosting. I KNOW you know what oil to use. Kira

Yep, hard to beat the OEM filter for the Cruze. IIRC it's a 45k mile service interval for the filter. In my experience that tends to be spot-on.

FYI, the OLM on a 2012 is optimistic. Change at 5000 miles for syn-blend and 7500 miles for synthetic, or sooner if the optimistic OLM tells you to.

The Dodge dealership that did work on my Dakota once forgot to put the *entire* intake plumbing back on the engine. Needless to say, I haven't been back there for anything.

Congrats on the new ride.

I live in the Northwest corner of the state bordering VA & TN. I'm leaning very heavily toward Quaker State Ultimate Durability for this car or maybe PP if the price stays so close at Walmart. I'll probably do 5k runs (I know I Know but the 1.4 seems to be hard on oil and a $21 a 5 quart I'll splurge) I also plan on using the AC Delco oem oil filter as they are around $6 at Amazon. Can't beat that price anywhere I've looked so far.

Finally, its actually my son's car. Christmas present for a teen age driver. Lord help us all.

To all a Merry Christmas!

Quaker State Ultimate Durability is what my Chevy dealer uses on my Dad's 2012 Cruze 1.4 2LT...

Not sure why he does not use ACDelco Dexos 1 Semi Synthetic...

Not going to complain, great oil..

Yeah, good idea for 5k oil changes with a teenage driver. And good call on using OEM filters.

If he asks about a Trifecta tune, heck no! It makes the car get up to speed a lot faster, which is the last thing a teenager needs.

Note the engine air filter difference.
1.4t Fram CA10989 , Purolator A46152
1.8 Fram CA 10990, Purolator A36163

Thanks for the heads up. Totally agreed the last thing he needs is any kind of tune.
