Since I have found this forum, I now look at oil filters every where I go (and oil; this drives my wife crazy).
I noticed that the PF53's at Pep Boys have the spring by-pass valve on the non-threaded end of the filter (like Purolator). The PF53's at Auto Zone have the by-pass on the threaded end (like Wix)???
Why are they different. The "base" plate on both filters look like the standard Champion design with the smaller holes and the one bigger hole.
