Hello, I'm actually having a discussion with a gentleman on another forum and he was saying that his Trailblazer SS has a ticking noise every time he starts it but it soon goes away. It is less noticeable when he first has the oil changed and more prominent right before having it changed. He exclusively has it changed at a local Cadillac dealer with Mobil 1.
This came up because he was saying the ticking noise is "just a GM thing". I then asked him what kind of oil filter he was using because if he was using a cheap filter with no anti drain back valve that could be a root to his issue. Now, I am assuming the dealer is just using their standard AC Delco filter but he doesn't know.
The AC Delco filters do have the valve but do you think over time it could wear out and possibly cause some drain back over night and be causing the ticking upon startup?
I hope this isn't too broad.. and possibly somebody also has experience with this situation.
Thanks!
