The small shop that I get my fleet serviced from (a mix of 9 cars and light trucks) prefers to use all AC Delco (E-Core) oil filters. All the cars and trucks seem to run fine he also uses Havoline simi synthetic motor oil and he recommends oil changes of 5,000 miles. My question is how many miles is a AC Delco E-Core oil filter good for?

As far as the oil life monitor says to. In all seriousness. My trucks OLM usually tells me 8,500 is my oil change interval using Dexos oil (wait, my truck is pre Dexos). I am sure they factored in the holding capacity and filtration of standard filters (Delco) when they set it up.
Unless you are going to greatly extend past the manufacturers recommendations, standard filters are just fine 99% of the time.

My OLM on my 5.3 Silverado is usually around 7k in winter and 10-11k in summer when I have more highway miles. I usually change it when it is around 20% left and have not gone over 10k. I use Wix filters, but Delcos need to be designed to go the distance.

When the Walmart TLEs switched to the Fram 'Core" filters a few years ago, there was an info prop on the counter for a brief period.
It said it was to reduce the number of different filters from xxx to xx. I don't remember the exact numbers. It also mentioned filter efficiency and mileage rating. I want to say it was 94% and 7500 miles.
I don't know what AC rates them, but Fram/Walmart says 7500.

I just purchased an AC Delco PF61E and plan to run it for a year or whenever my OLM on my 2005 Silvarado goes down to 5% - which could be 5-7k miles.

I've run them up to 5,000+ miles on my plow/work trucks and when I cut them open they did not appear to have any problems with the filter media. I also have several vehicles that I have mounted remote filters on the automatic transmission fluid lines and the filters I use are E-Cores. I change them out at 15,000+ miles. Never have seen anything wrong with them when I cut them open for inspection.
I don't like the e cores either but GM seems to like them.. They claim they build them that way because they flow much better then the older a/c delco filter that i personally liked.

With a caveat. No ecore combo valve use for any GM vehicles. Just nitrile adbv (older GM) or nitrile adbv and poppet type bypass (newer GM).
If ecore is your choice, as others have said and 'imo', 3-5k mi./6 month oci/fci.
