A testament to the Integra's reliability

Any car can go 600k if you keep fixing it

Wonder what is original and what is not?

Good question. On the integra the first things to go are usually as follows:
Cam Plug, Spark Plug Gaskets
Distributor/O-Ring
Thermostat
Alternator
Exhaust Manifold
Leaks from Sunroof Drains in Hatch/Trunk
Rust around rear quarter panels if rubber trim isn't removed

I've had extensive body work done on my quarter panels because of rust, and i've also had the Thermostat replaced, Cam Plug replaced, and getting the alternator done soon. Luckily the car's very easy to work on, and I can do most of the stuff myself. Love the car though, the B18 is bulletproof if you take care of it. It can easily take 5000-7500 OCI's with dino.

i wonder how many times the wheels have fallen off because of broken ball joints. Honda's double wishbone design instantly increases the percentage of wheel-falling-off-failure by 100%.

No kidding? What is it about the design that wears out balljoints faster than normal?

If both balljoints failed, then sure, the whole assembly would come off and the wheel with it, but not otherwise. I replaced one upper ball joint on my '90 Integra at about 120,000 miles. It was nowhere near coming apart, just looser than I liked.

Also how many distributors it's gone thru

.

As I remember, the distributor issues were addressed in a recall.

I wonder how bad the piston slap is now?

Never heard of piston slap in Honda engines of that (or any other) vintage. Honda made some of the best engines in the world during the ninties. Show me a Volvo or Mercedes of the same vintage that produces the same hp/liter and revs to 7200 (or higher) habitually with comparable reliability. You have to also consider the demographic that drives those marques and the driving style that goes with it.

I'd feel safer taking, say a Benz or Volvo that high, not so much in an Integra

Well, that's your call.

I wouldn't take _any_ car with that kind of mileage.

I'm still on my original at 122k, they're actually surprisingly reliable if you change the fluid regularly. If you don't change them, IMO they give out more premature than other brands.

We had an Integra in our family that we never serviced the ball joints on, and that car had 203,000 miles when it was hauled away.

I easily believe it. I had a 1987 Accord LXi hatchback and sold it with 305K, because of rust in upstate NY. It had Eibach springs, coils, tie bars, header/catback, but looked stock, but handled well. Don't care about plastic #@$%! on my car, only driving performance.

I ran it SCCA autocross and won the H-stock state title 4 years, and the regional class 5 years. The car was redlined and cornered hard daily. I went through new tires, pads, rotors every 30K, new upper balljoints in the front every 60k and rear uppers every 90k. Other than maintanence, it was great.

Mobil 1 5w30 every 4k with a PureOne filter, changed the gearbox (manual of course) with Mobil 1 10w30 every 60k.

Other than the rust and the mediocre drums in the rear, great car. Averaged 33+mpg. Got as high as 37. Top speed 137 mph - 25 mpg.

Great car, would buy one again easily.

thats pretty good! i've neons with less than 70k on the side of the road

600,000 Sheesh, it would take me 46 years of driving 13k a year to put that many miles on my car.
That can't be very healthy, sitting behind the wheel for all those hours, Lol, I wonder how many of the drivers body parts are original.

Sounds like a sentence to spend 600k+ miles over 12 years. Its great it went along extraordinarily far but drive nearly any car 50k/year and it will last many miles.

I would have much rather been sitting in a Legend or Vigor not a tin box like the Integra for that long. This is coming from an owner with a similar car 1995 Honda Civic EX with 225k miles over 12 years. Never again!

I love the way my Integra feels inside, doesn't feel like a tin box to me. I'd agree that i'd rather have a nice Legend. Of course it's gonna be more luxurious, it's twice the price
