Well over the holiday we got a little time to go up to 7000' elevation and pick up some pieces of black walnut that was given to us.

Pretty heavy stuff and not exactly in an ideal location to load without the proper equipment. We were able to get it figured it out.

Got it back to the mill.

Afterwards we had to make three of these 8x10x16 pine beams.

Thanks for looking.

I'm gonna make a king size headboard and some night stands for the wife with my share.

Thanks for sharing. Thats pretty. Makes me look at the black walnut in my yard a little differently.... Maybe in a few more years

All my window and door trim is walnut. All of my kitchen cabnets and bar are walnut. I cut it down, hauled it out, and then milled it with my Norwood bansaw. My dad made the cabnets. I love the stuff, like dark chocolate! Mmmm...walnut. Nice job! Over time the yellow sap wood will also darken fyi.

Pretty cool!

My parents were offered a large amount of walnut in the late 60s from a tree grandpa had cut down. Four storage chests (two large & two smaller) and a dining table were made, along with a few knick knacks from the small bits. The table top is 66x33x1 7/8" with steel that had to be bent at the San Diego naval yard as they were the only place that had equipment big enough to bend the metal. Dang heavy and would be the safest place in the house were there an air raid!

There is a HUGE black walnut that has been dead for awhile on the property we got this stuff off of. About 7000' elevation along a creek. We have the permission to take it down along with a big old cherry tree. Should be interesting.

Thanks for sharing the furniture photos toy4x4. I like how they Incorporated metal into the projects.
