A follow up to my latest thread - Dealing with car insurance companies.

I've been thinking of changing insurance companies to save some money and I'm thinking the companies that have a gecko or an emu must be less expensive than the companies that pay athletes to sell their products?

Progressive was the cheapest large insurance company compared to the others when I was shopping last month but it depends on state and area.

You pay 288 USD a month for car insurance? Am I hearing that right?

That's even worse than for a new immigrant from India with no driving record, driving in the Toronto, a region of Canada where insurance fraud, accidents, auto thefts including car jackings are a daily occurrence.

I thought in the USA it's like 50 bucks a month?

That's about what I pay for 2 trucks and a car, all liability only.
I drive maybe 5k a year combined. ~800 credit score, clean driving record, (CDL and HAZMAT hauler for work), over 40 yrs old. House insured with them too for the "discounts".

Anyone shopping insurance needs to get multiple quotes. I pay $75/month combined on two vehicles with full coverage and 500k in liability, but it doesn't matter because location, age, credit score, history, etc. all play a part so everyone will get different numbers. One company that comes in lowest for me my come in the highest for you.

We've had Progressive for years and then the rates went up to $2100/year mid 2023. Switched to the lizard and now paying under $1400 for exactly the same coverage. I still keep progressive for the jetski and ATV since that's only $175/year for both and for some reason Geico was slightly more.
