Perhaps our friend @AutoMechanic has decided to make his stake in Silicon Valley?
Welcome to the dark side!
While I prefer the earlier cars, up to '67, this bug continues to be in service! I like it, but maybe that's because there was this girl in HS that had a yellow '68 that used to take me to the beach...

Nice!

Appears to run, so it can’t be AM’s!

Jeff, how about the tag - blue and yellow? Does CA allow the use of old tags, or is that a modern tag offered by CA?

You can even get the old black and gold, for your classic or any car for that matter. The DMV is always happy to take you money.
The black and gold looks great on high ticket Porsches and even on Teslas.

There are many others available; one of my favorites is for antique motorcycles, '42 and earlier:

1302 still with a flat windshield, but with retrofit 1303 (1974) tail lights.

no factory painting anyway

In 1973 they made the Beetle and Super Beetle. The Super Beetle had a curved windshield and a little different hood, fenders, and lower valance. My first cousin had a 1973 Beetle in Orange.
I had a 1970 Beetle Deluxe. What made it a Deluxe? The pop out rear windows.

Sis had a pale yellow convertible....67ish.
Pal bought a new '68, also yellow. Remember hearing to "Cracklin' Rosey" and "Maggie May" over the radio.
My uncle, a Chrysler guy, chided me about even riding in it.
'Nother pal drove one off to college after we painted it, greased the bearings and sewed the rips in the interior.
The car was T-boned. The body "stressed off' the platform and still ran. Rain would fling into the cabin if not prevented.
That one was eventually retired.
