Hey guys,

I just refilled freon for my Saturn today. And I found out there was air leaking from the low presure port. I can hear the sound, and even when I cover the port with the cap, I can still hear the leaking sound.....I know my new filled freon would be gone soon. So sad.

Any idea how to fix it? I check AAP and can not fild the port for replacement. Where can I buy the port?

Thanks for your help.

I have punched the valve and let off and had them seal up. Some freon will escape, but if it seals, that's it. Sort of like exercising the valve and/or a little flush. Worked for me anyway last time I gauge checked and mine leaked also - til I popped on the valve a couple times.

what is an empty system?

one properly evacuated of all refrigerant, in the OPs case R134a not Freon.

I have punched the valve for several time, and still can not stop the leaking. I have went to AAP and found that they have low presure valve and valve replacement tools. I will probably try it on Sat. Hope it would work.

Thanks you all for the advices!

System will need evacuated before filling if your going to need the valve changed. To bad the punching didn't work.

For normal refill, do I need to evacuate first?
To do evacuating, what kind of tool I need? I checked the youtube, they all use a giant machine which I think I cannot afford.

There are tools to change the valve without losing the charge. Make sure to buy/borrow one of those too.

Tools to change the valve without losing charge?
Please tell us!

I know some designs can be changed with no loss, and some will open up the system.

I thought the same - then, use a recovery tank, change valve, evacuate, throw the 134a back in.
Other than that, I don't don't what else

I posted a reference in another one of the ongoing AC threads in the last week.

wow - what a nifty spiffy idea. simplistic tool

I never seen or heard of one - so I don't have one in my tool box.

The problem is remembering you bought one a few years back.
I vacuumed my system to replace a core. I dug around in my A/C supply stash for a new core and found the tool. Headslap!

Ouch!

Who sells it and how much? This is a very handy tool but I suspect it is priced for a pro and not for an amateur

Wrong. That tool is for the valve core, NOT any pressure switch.

Craig in Canada can add this to his growing bad advice.

Who in the world talked about "pressure switch"? I think you need to notch it down on insults. If you have any personal issues with Craig, handle them off line. We had been all discussing the schrader valve here and Craig posted the "Valve Core Tool".

Just cut it out with the attitude.
