The car is a Geo Metro clone w/4 cyl and I need to change coolant this weekend. From the factory it came with had the traditional green. Should I....continue to use the old green or put in some GO5? I have a stash of both.

I think I would drain the block and flush the cooling system before switching to G-05. From there I guess it's your call if you want to use up your stash of green before using the G-05. Some might say that both traditional green and G-05 have silicants but traditional green seems to work fine in Japanese engines. Green just doesn't protect for as long.

Most traditional greens these days are a low silicate formula that is capable of longer drains then the traditional silicated green of yesteryear.

If you could find Zerex or Havoline green, I'd use that.

G-05 is completely compatible with older cooling system that ran traditional green. This is why John Deere states it can be used in tractors all the way back to the 1960s.

The new Zerex green is a fine product as well.
