Looks like the HDD is certainly cleaning. At least, I hope that's what all that metal and silicon is from. I slacked off and didn't post this UOA when I got it.

Anyone?

I was hoping someone would confirm that the higher numbers are not because Valvoline MaxLife is a better oil, but because the HDD is cleaning stuff.

Dan,

Since this is a HDD (diesel) oil, the virgin oil will contain 4-5 PPM of Silicon anyhow. It is used as an anti-foaming agent. The other 13 PPM of Silicon could be you just need to change the air filter, and make sure there are no leaks. The wear metals are fine for this engine with some cleaning from the oil.

Actually your lead #'s show improvement.

The Maxlife was just a bit too thin for this engine.

I'd find out how much Si the virgin Amsoil has and check air filtration also.

Seems like ATM might work better yet. This one looks like it prefers a thicker 30wt.
