96 Infiniti I30, 5.3K OCI, Mobil 5000, 5W-30

Hey all, my first ever UOA. What do you think?

Oil sampled is Mobil Super 5000 in 5W-30 SN rated
Oil was in from 6/2012 to 10/2012
If I have to estimate, my commute is about 65/35 city/highway
I drive this car hard sometimes
Engine has 253,000 miles
Oil filter used was FRAM Tough Guard

I replaced both valve covers before this sample and cleaned the throttle, intake and EGR while it was out. I also had a leak in a PCV hose. I drove maybe 100 miles by the time I fixed the vacuum leak.

Now I have put QSUD 5W-30 with a Pure1 filter.

Looks good except for the Si, which you've already discussed.

Is this the VG30E engine? Nissan used that in many applications; I was just wondering if this Infinity has a VG30E with a bit more power than the "normal" apps?

Regardless, the wear is "normal" and looks just fine. You should be able to extend your OCIs a bit and stretch out your dollar, and still get great protection.

It's the VQ30de. Same as the one in the Maxima. The I30 was essentially a Maxima with different fascias and nicer trim pieces.

thanks all. my commute is about 5-6 miles.
and yes it is a VQ30DE engine.

Currently with QSUD I am going to extend it to 7500 miles and do another UOA.
