Application is for the 4CYL 2.2 engine. Pur calls for a 14476 filter. Can I safely use Pur 14610 instead? I ask because I already use that filter for my Quad, 16KW generator, wifes Armada, and if it isn't too long soon my mothers (that sounds lame!) Maxima.

I have a decent size stash of these and would rather not have to buy a different filter.

thanks.

the purolators website shows the threading / diameter etc, you could probably compare there, unless some gearhead here already knows the answer off the top of their head :P

I didn't notice the thread info; I'll have to re-check. TX

14476

14477
Type of Filter: Spin-on

Also, using search via google on purolator's website:

Looks like it's fatter and taller with the same threads. Anyone know what relief valve psi means?

That's the filter's bypass valve setting in PSI.

I have been using 14477s on Gen 4 Camry I4's for years. It is the filter the Gen 4.5 came with on the I4. I don't know how accurate those relief pressures are going to be in practive over thosands of filters. I don't see much difference.

Nothing will happen IMO. The bypass valve setting is based more on the filter's overall design than the vehicle it is used on. That's why you will often see different by-pass settings on different brand filters for the same vehicle application.
