I vaguely recall that era Grand Cherokee having a tendency to split front axle CV boots...but I am not sure if that is an accurate memory or a sign I need more coffee. Either way...can't hurt to give the boots a look.


Can always replace the front CV axles with U-joint axles. My ZJ has u-joints, and I use an FL-1A.

Yeah, it's the same adapter as an XJ.

The u-joint shafts are expensive, unless you get junkyard shafts and rebuild them. A reman CV shaft is $50, a brand new one is still under $100. And the u-joint ones aren't any stronger (assuming stock ZJ u-joint shafts vs stock CV shafts).
