I recently purchased a 93 Lexus SC300 (2JZ-GE) with 133k miles. It has been serviced at the dealer from day one, using Castrol 5-30. I am in the process of the 1st ARX rinse phase, using Castrol. I have used M1 T&SUV (5W-40) in other vehicles and would like to use this oil in the Lexus. I live in coastal central Cal and rarely see temps lower than 50 degrees. The car is driven on the highway @ 70 mph for a minimum of 30 minutes 95% of the time. Is the M1 T&SUV a good choice? I have searched and not found much info about using this oil in this vehicle. Thanks.

I think it's a very good choice. You might be just as well off with Mobil 1 Extended Performance 10w-30 depending on the condition of the engine.

If the engine is not consuming any oil, why bother with the 40 wt oil? Review our UOA data and you'll see that as a general rule, the Toyota engines absolutely thrive on 30 wt oils, especially M1. I'd go with M1 5w-30 and stay with it unless it developed a consumption problem.

It’s an original owner car, all records, and a very complete dealer service at 120k (r/r timing belt, lower control arms, ac compressor, new Pirelli tires, etc.). Car was meticulously maintained (two car covers, one indoor one outdoor, all leather repaired at once etc.). All options available were installed (it came with the build sheet). Seller is a client and she was moving out of the country. I offered what Edmunds.com stated was a fair price for the year, model and mileage. There were no higher offers; I bought it for $5,750.

I'd be afraid of the synthetic causing seal leaks. I'd stick with 5w-30 or 10w-30 dino. Considering how well it's been maintained, with regular oil changes it'll likely outlast you!
