Looking at a 92 Ford Econoline based RV, equivalent to the current E450. Which transmission's came in this year of van? I was thinking C6 but I'm probably wrong and it's a E4OD. Has 128k and the fluid smells and looks good. Has a bit of 1-2 shudder. Would do a full flush with Mercon V instead of Mercon and add a couple bottles of Lubeguard Red if it does end up in our driveway.

C6 or E4OD depending on how it is built according to the parts lookup. VIN is probably too old to tell, but a tag off the trans would tell us.
Isn't the C6 a 3-speed transmission? And the E4OD is a 4-speed...a quick check of the PRNDL selector would tell probably...if the RV is local to you (and it sounds like it is because you have test drove it).
Wikipedia sez...the E4OD was used in the E-series beginning in 1989.

IIRC, the C6 and E4OD were offered simultaneously for a couple years in the late 80s/early 90s in the heavy duty trucks. You could get either one in a 3/4 ton or up truck or van depending on the engine.
They also offered the C6 because a lot of sheeple didn't trust those new fangled automatic transmission with the overdrive, you never need more than 3 gears.
Sorry should of searched it has overdrive so most likely is a E4OD. That deal probably won't go through but it's good to know which is offered different years.
