90915-YZZN1 toyota filter

Well, Toyota specs 10,000 mile oil changes, so it should last.
I change mine every 5K in my 24 Rav4. It's right there next to the oil plug, so no big deal to change it while I'm draining the oil. The oil really isn't very dark after 5K miles, so I'm probably wasting money changing the filter.

I used to do a spill and fill on the 5K and full oil & filter every 10K miles on my 4Runner. Changing the oil filter was a pain. I had to drop a second skid plate and wrestle with the filter housing. Never an issue with that filter after 10K miles. After 10K, the oil wasn't really that dark either and the filter always looked clean.

If the oil looked nasty (like my Chrysler 3.8 v6 mini van oil :sick:, black as coal after 5000 miles) I would change the filter.

I have a 2019 Camry Hybrid.

I've used this filter in the past, it holds up just fine for 10k miles. My OCI is anywhere from 7k - 10k miles, dependent on how much time I have on my hands, usually around 7500 miles. The Toyota OEM filters are more of rock-catchers than high filtration filters. I've heard that Toyota prioritizes having exceptional oil flow, even if it is dirty oil. I like that the Toyota filters come pre-lubed and are very affordable. I've never seen my oil exceptionally dirty. Even after 10k miles, it looks better than all my other vehicles at 5k miles. Dark brown, but not yet black.

In terms of info on the filter, there's quite a few tear downs on YouTube. Here's one. I've made the switch over to almost exclusively WIX 51394. Only time I haven't used WIX is when my RockAuto shipment gets delayed and I have time to change my oil that day.

I would love to find a longer alternative to the WIX 51394, however. I always bust my knuckles getting out old filter. If it stuck out just an extra inch, it would be nice.

I change my oil every 5K and use a Fram Ultra/Endurance full synthetic filter every 10K mi. @Walmart the FE9972 is $13 and the Walmart ST9972 synthetic blend is $3,

In my 2003 Corolla, which spec’d a 51394 size filter, I most frequently used a 51348. The 51348 is what would one would find on a 2000 Camry 3.0 V6 for ordering purposes. It’s only a little longer though. I figured a Toyota filter would stay closer to the original specifications for pressure, etc. I did, occasionally, use the much longer 51516 (a.k.a Motorcraft FL-400S) with no problems. The car is now owned by a family friend, and it has at least 230K on it with no engine problems. On Rockauto, I’d order it for a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0. I will be another one to echo the “do more than the 10K OCI that Toyota recommends.” I did 5K OCIs on the Corolla and will continue the same on my current two Toyota Products (2023 Lexus IS350 and 2020 Toyota Avalon).

Have you checked 51516?

Looks like we are going back for Canister filter in the latest Toyota model year?

Change the oil and filter on our 2022 Rav4 Hybrid every 6 months regardless of mileage (usually about 5K miles) with M1 AFE 0W-16 and Toyota 90915-YZZN1 OEM filter.

Toyota maintenance sched calls for oil and filter change every 10k miles, the filter is made for Toyota (Denso) and has to be sufficient for that factory OCI. To me, 10k is too long and 5k is very reasonable for oil change, if you are so inclined then keep filter in for 2 oil changes;
I think another very good filter is VIC C-110 that is sold by RA as BECK/ARNLEY 0418066, filter is made in Japan.

I've run cartridge Toyota OEM filters for nearly 200k on the Camry, typically on ~ 10k mile runs.
I have no reason to think that the OEM filters aren't up to the task of the recommended interval.

Toyota's just have such little wear metals it should be no issue using the filter for 10k but if you want more peace of mind there are plenty of extended mileage oil filters on the market you can also use.

Toyota 90915-yzzf1 is the longer version. Wix is 57145, got it from my Microgard filter number sold at Oreillys.
