83 Caprice - underneath pics during rear end swap

The car has been oil sprayed, not sure how often, but often enough to keep it decent.

My last Caprice, the 89, went to the wreckers for $350, but I pulled the engine out first and threw a bad one in for the weight. So we still have the original 337k mile 305 for a spare. Not sure if I will ever do anything with it but i didn't want to get rid of it anyways. I also saved the odometer reading 535,000 kilometers, to put in the 83 Caprice once it reaches that mileage, since it doesn't have the extra digit on the odometer. The 89 does.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

^ It sounds pretty nice already, stock exhaust but has a really nice rasp to it. I probably will wait until some part of the exhaust rusts out and needs repair before I put dual exhaust on.

The Caprice got this winter off, since I bought an 86 Cutlass Supreme brougham 2 door with a sunroof, for $400 to drive for a winter car. I got it on the road for less than $500, but it has some extensive floor rust from the leaking sunroof and windshield, and about 350k miles on it, so I'm probably only going to finish out this winter with it.

I already put 11k miles on it since I started driving it this winter. I travel to school almost 100 miles a day 4 days a week and my girlfriend has to use my car to as her Subaru she had when I met her died.

I will put up some pictures of the Caprice again once it's cleaned up and waxed and the windows are tinted.

The Caprice is still in use, with a 2004R (4 speed overdrive) transmission swapped in. It's at about 190k miles now. Need's some minor repairs like a wiper motor circuit board and passenger door lock switch, etc. but the engine is running perfect still and I've been going 5-8k miles between OCI and it stays pretty clean looking in that time.
I'll report back at 200k miles and 300k miles I guess :-)

Like it! My first car was an '84 Cutlass, with the 3.07, 200-C, and a 2.14 rear axle. I swapped it to a 2.41 posi axle after I got it. Would have done an overdrive conversion eventually. Nice job.

Nice Caprice, great shape for an Ontario car. It makes me miss my old B-bodies, they were great cars. That 8.5" upgrade is a good one, those 7.5" rears were garbage. We did dual exhaust on my brother's old '86 Cutlass Supreme with an LG4 305, and it really woke up that car. We just had to modify the transmission cross member, which was a $50 job at a local welder. It also improved the gas mileage too.
