You must read up JD Power to get your knowledge level up - there is no comparison of Asian and European auto makers, they are light years apart. Look the Tundras are giving a run for the big 3 truck makers, just think when VW/MB/Koreans came up with similar trucks, there is no where to run, you are staring at another round of bankruptcies!!

Toyota and Nissan combined have yet to come into the double digits percent wise in the domestic truck market. The recent Tundra redesign pretty much has been judged a disappointment. I do not think they big 3 sweat much because the foreign makers are too busy peddling overvalued trinkets to the over educated gentry. Myself included at one time. In hindsight I would have been much happier buying 1.8 caravans for the money I spent on a single Sienna.

Trust me you did the right thing on the Sienna, they are rugged rugged and rugged. The weakest part of this vehicle is the transmission, if you maintained it, they will last a long time.

Don't compare a Caravan w/ Sienna, they are far apart. Though Chrysler discovered mini-vans they are no where now thanks to superior quality of Toyota and Hondas. Does even Ford and GM make vans these days? No I guess because they are busy building trucks and preparing paperwork for the next bankruptcy. Idiooots who don't know what it is to create a brand and protect it.

Trucks dominate sales in the US. As a comparison the numbers for the Camry are about 37k sales.

Live and learn, I guess. I rarely tell details of this, but I took the opposite gamble and lost. We did what you wished you would have done: we bought a Town & Country and paid $8-10k less than what we'd have spent on an Odyssey or a Sienna with similar features.

In the end, the van was at the dealer for a lot of its life, Chrysler corporate jerked us around on reimbursement for a rental car that was promised to us during one dealer visit, and we happily sold the van to Carmax with about 42,000 miles on the odometer. It was the worst vehicle we ever owned.

I said that we happily sold it, but we were so disappointed at the same time. It was the first new vehicle we bought as a couple, and it was going to be our "forever" van -- we optioned it exactly as we wanted it, and payed extra for the Cognac Crystal paint. We bought the Walter P. Chrysler Signature Series package -- very classy interior, two-tone Lear leather seats. It was beautiful. But it just wouldn't stop breaking.

We lost a lot of money trying to save money. It'll be a while before we try that again.

Just a different perspective on the same concept.

Why dont you just go visit the Ram, Ford, GMC or chevrolet sites and configure/build what you want and see.

I would assume a decked out Ram with the Cummin could easily push that kind of $$$

That because it is a car, cost 35K max, and get 27sh highway.

Personally most trucks purchased are in the 30-40K range, most buy them for personal transport, want something comfortable and sometimes double duty to haul or tow. Nothing wrong with that, it is their money.

This forum is too judgmental, if you dont buy a used cheap import that is fuel efficient, your un-American LOL

Tundra is butt ugly. F150 and Silverado look very good.

Lol! I gotta laugh at the folks buying a truck for $71,00. I'm driving my Dakota for at least 5 more years. Retiring early and putting my son through college, while staying debt free is much more important, IMO!

LOL. I do - Ford is about Average, GM is slightly above, and Chrysler is at the utter bottom.

I've had excellent service from our Fords. Friends have had the same from their GM's.

I had a 2004 Infiniti G35 (top rated brand) and it was about as reliable as my Taurus. The Taurus, a first year model did have more initial problems but has been rock solid after those were addressed. The G35 had its own issues (paper thin AC condenser, little niggles, etc.).

Good golly, that took all of about 30 seconds!! And the secret was to visit the manufacturer's website and click on the "Trucks and Vans" link and then there they were, the respective models, AMAZING!!!!

Oh, and Ford didn't go bankrupt, but Nissan almost did in 1999, which was why they got into an alliance with Renault.

At the time it was created, Renault bought 36.8 percent of Nissan's outstanding stock, and Nissan vowed to buy into Renault when it was financially able. In 2001, after the company's turnaround from near-bankruptcy, Nissan bought a 15 percent stake in Renault, which in turn increased its stake in Nissan to 44.4 percent.

It is not your fault you made a responsible decision.

My wife and I shopped the market for over a year to replace her truck. Toyotas and Fords were ridiculously overpriced and lacking the dynamics we both appreciate in a vehicle. Chevrolet was unable to sell us anything between all tarted up and stripper. Since we already have one Hemi in our stable it was an easy choice. We easily saved over 20k AND got a vehicle that is surprisingly capable both for her job as a rural healthcare provider and a great weekender. Almost 12k miles and couldn't be happier with a truck.

People's spending is a private matter. And without any offense intended, I did not for a moment consider what anyone on BITOG said...
